President's Message

Greetings!

As I begin my second years as president of the Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild, I again want to express my honor for being chosen to lead this talented and amazing group of artists.  Our guild has been active for fifty-two years and to help lead it to future success is an amazing opportunity.  Working with your officers, I have been having fun organizing and planning for the upcoming season of exhibits and events.

For two years, Covid took its toll on us all, then Hurricane Ian hit.  Many members were affected and are finally, just now, starting to get back to the joy of creativity, enhancing member’s skills, and finding fellowship with the guild.

So, now that the worst is over, we have created an interesting season of events to re-energize members.  Our meetings each month consist of a board meeting, a social time with food and beverages and a member meeting.  Some months we will include an interesting speaker or educational experience that I believe members will learn from and enjoy.

In the spirit of renewal, we are asking members to first, attend ALL our meetings and second, bring a friend who is interested in fine crafts, curious about the guild, or may even want to join.  Plan to bring a dish or drink to share.  That’s your homework.

My homework is to, with the help of VP Judy Van Inwegen, the board, and others, to secure and build a season full of fun, exhibits, and sales opportunities, workshops and friendships.  I will stay in touch via email and our newsletter to keep you apprised of shows, exhibits and sales opportunities.

Remember, our meetings are the third Saturday of each month in season at the Cape Coral Art Center.  Arrive at 11:00 am for social time and snacks before the official member meeting starts at 11:30am.

Yours in art,

Lynn Ondercin, President
